I’m currently a junior studying Mathematics at UW-Madison, obtaining a certificates in Environmental Studies and Integrated Studies in Science, Engineering and Society. I’m a NY Posse scholar, originally from Queens, NY looking to explore topics on urban ecology and land-use. My interest in urban ecology developed when involved with ProjectTRUE, a summer research program focusing on anthropogenic effects on New York City wetland areas.
My independent study is on wetland fragmentation and development in southern Wisconsin, looking at environmental implications through the use of long-term satellite data and other land-use and lake information to better understand the impacts of urban expansion and other development on wetland habitat and lakes. I’ll be focusing on land-use change through time and fragmentation through analyzing observations of lakes and by assessing development patterns over time in southern Wisconsin.
